HIMA • San Pablo Oncology Hospital, is a one stop shop for oncology care. It is the most comprehensive cancer hospital in Puerto Rico and the region. It is the only private facility in Puerto Rico accredited by the Commission on Cancer .Accreditation by the Commission on Cancer (CoC), a quality program of the American College of Surgeons, demonstrates a cancer program’s commitment to providing high-quality, multidisciplinary, patient-centered cancer care.
CoC accreditation is nationally recognized by organizations, including the National Cancer Institute, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, National Quality Forum, American Cancer Society, and The Joint Commission, as having established data-driven performance measures for the provision of quality cancer care.
The standards set the framework for a program that provides high-quality, patient-centered care and access to the full scope of cancer care services required to diagnose, treat, rehabilitate, and support.
Additionally in 2016 the Oncological Hospital became a participating facility of the the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), a National Cancer Institute supported clinical trials group, is the world’s largest organization devoted exclusively to childhood and adolescent cancer research. The COG unites more than 9,000 experts in childhood cancer at more than 200 leading children’s hospitals, universities, and cancer centers across North America, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe in the fight against childhood cancer.
The Oncological Hospital is composed of experienced physicians specialized in cancer which have weekly Tumor Boards , Oncology Certified Nurses (OCN) and allied health professionals with an extensive experience in Oncology such as: nutritionist, patient navigator, health educator, social worker, research coordinator, certified tumor registrars and psychosocial coordinator among others. Our physicians perform breakthrough surgeries ; is the only hospital in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean offering Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS) with DaVinci®, Neurosurgical Oncology, and Radioembolization (Yttrium 90). The Hospital also offers treatment in radiation oncology, brachytherapy, and robotic radiosurgery (Cyberknife®), leading to better outcomes .
