Burn Unit
Given the need for these services on the island, was established in August 2010, The Burn Center together with Dr. Amin Jaskille, burns and skin care surgery specialist from Washington Hospital Center. At this time, it is the only center in a private institution in Puerto Rico, which offers all services to children and adults related with burns non-work-related injuries. In its first year, the Center served 97 children and 92 adults with thermal, chemical and electrical injuries.
The Burn Center provides everything needed for children, including compression garments and therapy. The center maintains close relations with Shriner’s Children Hospital in Boston.

- Manages scald, thermal, friction, electrical and chemical burns
- Reconstructive surgery for patients with previous burns, scars, and contractures
- Rehabilitation services involving physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists and a pediatric physiatrist
- Dedicated Registered Dietitian and Pharm D, both with burn training
- Pediatric and adult hospitalist support: pediatricians and internists all with burn training
- Burn support groups
The center also has ABLS- Advanced Burn Life Support trained staff and ancillary staff available 24/7 .
